Blower door testing
New Washington County homes and the air leakage test
Washington County is in Climate Zone 2. A newly built house there must test at no more than 7 air changes per hour at 50 pascals under the Florida energy code. The test can be booked once every opening through the shell is made. A fan fitted in an exterior doorway holds the house at the test pressure while the leakage is measured.
Vented attic
A vented attic is outside the test. An attic sealed and insulated at the roof deck is opened to the house and measured.
Attached garage
An unheated, uncooled attached garage is outside the test, while the wall and door between it and the house are part of it.
A house over the limit
Its leaks are corrected and it is tested again.
