Blower door testing
Testing new homes in Gulf County
Newly built Gulf County homes are in Climate Zone 2 under the Florida energy code, with a limit of 7 air changes per hour at 50 pascals. We run the test once every opening through the building shell is in. A fan fitted in an exterior doorway holds the house at the test pressure while its air leakage is measured.

Builders can book them together. Each house is tested on its own and gets its own result.
What to send
The address, the permit number, the date the house will be ready, and who to call on site.
A slipped date
If the house is not ready, call and a new test date is set.
Test-day setup
Exterior windows and doors closed, interior doors open, heating and cooling off, and the registers open.
Attic and garage
A vented attic and an unheated attached garage sit outside the test. An attic sealed at the roof deck is opened to the house and measured with it.
Finishes
Paint, floors and cabinets can wait, since they do not change the reading.
Additions
Additions and alterations under 85% of the building envelope are an exception.
